The new Penn Paleoecology Lab is currently under construction. If you are interested in volunteering after September 1, 2017, contact Professor Morrison. Let us know your interests: archaeology, environmental science, botany, etc. and we'll do what we can to accomodate them.
Previous volunteers have successfully competed for research funds and several have completed BA, MA, and BS projects in anthropology, geophysical sciences, international studies, MAPSS, and South Asian studies. Currently we have undergraduates working on developing ways to study agrobiodiversity in the past, building a C and N stable isotope database for South Asian plants, assessing the empirical basis of Poaceae pollen size data in the North American literature, and analyzing stable isotope composition of SOM from archaeological middens and reservoir sediments.
